Saheli maintains a broad commercial litigation practice, with a focus on commercial disputes, professional disciplinary proceedings, and appellate matters. Saheli has appeared as counsel at all levels of court in British Columbia, the Law Society of British Columbia, and the British Columbia and Alberta Securities Commissions, and has prepared written submissions for matters before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Prior to joining Poulus Ensom Smith LLP, Saheli practiced at a leading commercial litigation boutique in Vancouver.

  • Acted as co-counsel for respondents on an appeal from a judicial review proceeding, arising from findings made in a supervisory review conducted by the British Columbia Farm Industry Review Board, successfully upholding the underlying decision (Prokam Enterprises Ltd. v. British Columbia Farm Industry Review Board, 2024 BCCA 151).
  • Acted as co-counsel for an individual respondent in proceedings before the British Columbia Securities Commission, successfully defending against an application alleging that the respondents acted jointly and in concert in violation of securities regulations (NorthWest Copper Corp. (Re), 2023 BCSECCOM 602).
  • Acted as co-counsel for an individual respondent in proceedings before the Alberta Securities Commission, successfully defending against an application alleging that the respondents acted jointly and in concert in violation of securities regulations (Re DIRTT Environmental Solutions Ltd., 2023 ABASC 32).
  • Acted as co-counsel for an anti-drone technology company in an action brought against former employees, successfully obtaining findings of breach of confidence and breach of fiduciary duties (Skycope Technologies Inc. v. Jia, 2023 BCSC 1288).
  • Acted as co-counsel for one of the appellants on an appeal from a summary judgment decision involving a series of interrelated oppression and employment claims in the context of a closely-held company, successfully overturning the underlying decision (Stromberg v. Olafson, 2023 SKCA 67).
  • Acted as discipline counsel for the Law Society of British Columbia on a number of professional discipline proceedings for both conduct unbecoming and professional misconduct. Conducted disciplinary hearings both with co-counsel (including Guo (Re), 2023 LSBC 46; Guo (Re), 2023 LSBC 28; Guo (Re), 2024 LSBC 11; Guo (Re), 2024 LSBC 17) and independently (Guo (Re), 2024 LSBC 26; Guo (Re), 2024 LSBC 29). Conducted an appeal hearing upholding findings of professional misconduct with co-counsel (Cole v. The Law Society of British Columbia, 2023 BCCA 199), and an appeal confirming the scope of the Law Society’s authority to investigate the books, records and practice of a lawyer (A Lawyer v. The Law Society of British Columbia, 2021 BCCA 437).
  • Acted as co-counsel for the respondent on an appeal from a trial judgment, successfully upholding the trial judge’s findings of breach of a memorandum of understanding setting out a shareholders’ agreement (Oswald v. Start Up SRL, 2021 BCCA 352).
